Have you ever tried to be part of a group? Have you ever seen attributes to a subculture that you identify with and decided to associate yourself with that group? I sure have. I think it is human nature to connect with other people. It is just how we were created to be.
In Ephesians 1:1-14, we see Paul in true superb artistry. This guy may be one of the best I have seen in a literary form. He is truly compelling. I dont know if you have checked it out lately, but if not…the invitation is open for a truly mind-blowing experience. Paul pretty much wears a cape. But truly, it is the words of God that he is speaking, which is totally different perspective on how relevant our God really is.
Paul sets up our connection to Christ and being part of something truly amazing, something concrete. This is a far cry from the “Germanic silver which is now in season” that Charles Spurgeon refers to in The Soul Winner. For those unfamiliar with the reference, Spurgeon states, “I prefer the puritanic gold as opposed to the Germanic silver which is now in season”. It is a beautiful picture of the cultural norm being trumped by something so huge, so amazing, so real. Which is the association of the greatest tribe to ever exist, Christianity. It is an invitation from the God of all that exists to understand and connect with Him through Christ and become part of the family once again. Check it out. Engage. Put a few thoughts down on how the passage gripped you today.
