The Parable of the Persistent Widow : Luke 18:1-8

Don't Give Up On God

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’” Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?” (Luke 18:1-8 NLT)

Life is Hard..

“There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ (Luke 18:2, 3 NLT)

But, God is GOOD..

The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. (Luke 18:4-7 NLT)

..even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. (2 Corinthians 12:7-9 NLT)

We are often more concerned with a quick fix and God is more concerned with forming us.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. (1 Chronicles 16:34 NLT)

No matter the circumstances.

Not even death can separate us from the love of Christ.

So, Pray!

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. (Luke 18:1 NLT)

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. (Philippians 4:6 NLT)

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7 NLT)

I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?” (Luke 18:8 NLT)

Faith is the conviction of truth.

Do you believe God is good?

Will you continue to pray?

DON'T GIVE UP ON GOD!
