you are a no good SLUT!

Have you ever been called a name?

Well, that’s kind of drastic..maybe you have..but maybe you haven’t. At least not to your face.

Yet you know, sense and feel that people talk behind your back..they have labeled you.

Maybe this label stems from an actual past mistake.
Maybe this label is from the lies of a jealous and mean-spirited “friend.”
Maybe this label comes from something you can’t even control like a softer voice or a lisp.
Maybe this label comes from a complete misunderstanding.
Maybe this label comes from the company you keep.
Maybe this label comes from an activity you enjoy.
Maybe this label is self-imposed and only lives in your own mind.
Maybe this label exists because people haven’t taken the time to get to KNOW you or understand you.

I believe Labels Lie. Don’t use them. Don’t accept them!

I know I am a hypocrite. I have used labels. I have made judgments. I am guilty.

But I have seen so much life-change around me to know that God is working on people..ALL kinds of people..ALL THE TIME. And regardless of where they are on their journey..God is working.

So, it is impossible for me to judge a man’s heart based on what I see on the outside. Even his last action, that looks like he’s “guilty” might be something God is using to break him.

One of my favorite verses from the Bible deals with this topic. As Samuel is looking for the next king of Israel he is faced with making judgments based on what he “sees.” And the Lord speaks to Samuel:

Don’t judge by his appearance..The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7)

And that says it all.

I believe Labels Lie. Don’t use them. Don’t accept them!

I know that I have been called many names to my face and behind my back. This has hurt me deep. However, I know I too have done the same to others. Even if not out loud definitely in my mind which is just as bad. I am encouraged more and more as I read Samuel because of his faithfulness to God and his 100% dependency on Him. He may not have understood everything God was doing, the Israelites wanting a king So Saul was chosen, then God does not approve of Him…but Samuel still trusted God no matter what!!! I am so thankful that the Lord does not look at what human beings look at. Today and everyday I pray to have the eyes of Jesus.
