I don’t want to be one of those crazy people who are so “out-of-touch” with the real world that their faith looks silly to others. Unbelievable. Fake. Or just plain ole insane in the membrane.
But I do believe that passion makes people do irrational things.
I DO want to be passionate about the things and the people I love.
I want to go to great lengths to show them and prove to them how much I care, and how crazy I am about their presence in my life. I also want them to know that I recognize..
- the value they add..
- the comfort they bring..
- the love they reciprocate..
- and my complete trust and belief in them.
I want my FAITH to be that same way. Sometimes it may seem crazy to the world..but only if there are no results.
In today’s Eastridge reading plan, Mark 2:1-5 describes a scene like this:
1 A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home.2 They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them.3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them.4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” (TNIV from YouVersion.com)
Did you see that?
Some men believed so strongly and passionately that Jesus was real, and that he could heal, that they dug through the roof of a house that wasn’t even theirs. They probably looked like crazy people! And if Jesus did not come through for them..guess what..they would’ve looked like madmen!
Do you believe so strongly in the truth of Jesus that you would dig through the roof to get to Him?
Do you put yourself in situations where you will look like a crazy person if Jesus doesn’t show up?
