I intended on making a quick post tonight with the spirit of Facebook in mind and the current trend of posting profile pics of famous people or celebrity look-a-likes. But this quick post turned into something more, something deeper when I began watching the clip below from one of my top five movies of all time, Shawshank Redemption.
First things first..I’ve been compared to Toby Maguire and Elijah Wood. These are the two most common.
But the “character” that I get compared to most is Andy (Tim Robbins) in Shawshank Redemption.
I’ve quizzed folks asking them what specifically it is about Andy that I resemble and they always have a hard time articulating it. Some say his mannerisms. Some say his dry wit. Some say his voice and inflection. So..I attached a video for you to see for yourself and let me know what you think.
There is so much to talk about in this movie other than my similarities to Andy like:
- the redemption story
- “Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free.”
- wisdom
- friendship
- wrongful conviction
- death
- “Get busy living or get busy dying.”
- freedom
- how music can move people deeply (like in this clip)
Nevertheless..enjoy the clip and rent the movie if you’ve never seen it. It’s worth it.
